The Billings Fair isn’t the official state fair, but just like in so many other states, it doesn’t have to be the official one to be the biggest and best. It has the most attractions, most events, and the biggest names, so by my book, much as the Puyallup Fair trumps the official Washington State Fair, this one is the best around, and if you’re in town during its run, you should check it out. Great Falls is a great city, and one too few tourists take the time to visit. Sure it’s off the I-90 pretty far, but it’s a beautiful city, and one with many attractions for tourists and those looking to relocate there as well. One thing we had a chance to catch on our tour last summer was the Havre Fair, and no trip to the fair would be complete without taking in the rodeo. This isn’t the pro-circuit, but it has every last thrill you’d hope to see, plus a few surprises as well. After a long day of getting full on the food and dizzy on the rides, I can’t think of a better way to end the day than by sitting down and taking in the Havre rodeo in its full spectacle. The Great Northern Fair in Havre has everything you could ever want from a fair, like ten tons of food, great shopping, daily shows, midway games and a full assortment of rides for the very young right up through the more adult-centric sorts. We first learned about Havre thanks to Debbie Vandeberg at the Chamber of Commerce. We were looking for a Montana destination with character, personality, and enough fun to keep short-attention-span tourists like us entertained while we checked out the town and wrote up all the attractions. Debbie didn’t just engage us, she pointed us in the right direction, and what we’ve found is Havre, Montana.
